In Care, In Schools

An education pack with a difference

We were asked to produce the printed material for ‘In Care, In School’ to support a series of films produced by Suited & Booted for the Bath Spa University’s School of Education.

‘In Care, In School’ was a learning resource for teachers and pupils to help school communities understand what it means to be in care and at school. It was developed by young people in care, and care leavers, through the Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES) In Care Council, supported by the local authority, Bath Spa University,  ASDAN, Buttle UK, the PSHE Association, The Who Cares? Trust, VisionWorks for schools, the National Union of Teachers and a range of other local and national partners.

We used our paper engineering skills (!) to design a bespoke card folder with spine, and four A4 booklets; an overview, a staff training and support guide, plus booklets for primary and secondary schools. We also managed the print production. In addition, we designed the DVD Rom interface, managed the programming of the DVD Roms, as well as the DVD faces. The literature was well received and made available for purchase. Following a rounding-up meeting an email was circulated by Richard Parker, the then Director of the Centre for Education Policy in Practice, stating that ‘they well deserved that round of applause for the quality of their work – they are stunning!’. We’ll take that thank you Richard!
